An Irish Country Doctor by Patrick Taylor

This book introduces Barry Laverty, a young doctor beginning his career in the fictional village of Ballybucklebo, Northern Ireland, in the 1960s. He works as an assistant to the unconventional, crafty, and kind-hearted Dr. Fingal O'Reilly. The novel, which serves as the first in Taylor's Irish Country series, follows Laverty's experiences learning about rural life, medicine, love, and the quirks of the village's eccentric inhabitants as he navigates his relationship with O'Reilly and the challenges of everyday village life.
